On November 16th, a record crowd headed to Doncaster Secondary College to view our 50th Hawthorn Calisthenics end of year Display and Presentation. It was a day filled with colour, excitement and applause as each section took to the stage to show the audience the results of their year of hard work.
To top off the performances, awards were given to most improved and best team members at each section, as well as membership trophies and the perpetual Best First Year, Most Conscientious (Mrs Coffa award) and Scholarship awards.
Congratulations to all coaches and performers and thanks to all our wonderful Hawthorn family and friends for coming to support our girls as we celebrate a phenomenal year in calisthenics!
Following in the footsteps of the Seniors, and with 'good luck' posters from the Inters in hand, our talented group of Juniors have celebrated a massive win at Royal South Street to close the 2018 competition season. This win topped off a marvellous year for the team which also included Aggregative wins at CVI State Championships and Bayside, as well as the Runners Up trophy at Mt District.
With 4 members moving up to Inters next year, these 12 lovely performers swept the field, receiving 3 gold and 3 silver medals in 6 items to win overall with 30 points to Runners Up with 18. Congratulations must be given to each girl and their coach for showing such improvement in a difficult division this year. Looking forward to seeing what these champions will do next!
On Wednesday 17th October, our beautiful Seniors came from behind to score a surprising, yet well deserved, win at their Royal South Street (Ballarat) competition. 6 excellent performances, and a late fightback helped the Seniors win not only the Division 2 Aggregate prize, but 2 perpetual trophies for winning Rhythmical Aesthetics and Dance Arrangement. This win topped off a stellar year for the Seniors, who were also CVI State Champions and runners up and Waverley, and showed a substantial amount of improvement due to hard work and persistence.
What a team! Go Hawthorn.
